Handle explores the seismic change that the notion of tactility went through since the pandemic. Made from handrail tubing manufactured for public transport across the UK, the simplistic work encapsulates numerous facets of tactility. The bar’s diameter fits perfectly inside the palm of our hands, and the steel skeletons wrapped in velvet skin actively invoke to be touched. AORA open call finalist Adeline de Monseignat titled this work to convey a double meaning: to explore the extents to which public surfaces are now faced with scrutiny, and to question how the pandemic was “handled.”
