Identifying the weather as a key to universal experience, Lydia Hamblet interrogates the connectivity of our emotions to the environment. Drawing is central to Lydia’s work and is often where the initial research and development happens. Once translated through a process of mono-screen printing, the work contemplates the reliability of memory in relation to the encounter. The gestural impressions of her abstract expressions reflect the narrative of changing weather in both atmospheric and introspective spheres. In the painting, primary and pastel colors swirl together and form shapes and dimensions, capturing a moment of transcendence.
