A deep dive into the expansion of Tantric Buddhism from 5th-century India north-, south- and east-wards led Charwei Tsai to take a meditative approach in her practice. The red mandala was painted using cinnabar, a pigment with medicinal properties. There are burn marks from incense sticks spelling out aspirational phrases which allow light to come through the hanging drawing when it is placed in front of a window, bridging different senses of spirituality
