Guy Haddon Grant

b.1986, in London, UK.

Guy Haddon Grant’s practice occupies a space between abstraction and figuration. His drawings are ephemeral and wrestle with the opposing ideas of lightness and density. The artist’s study of clouds is ominous. The use of charcoal helps exacerbate emotions while also highlighting the mass and form of the clouds; the dark clouds are in opposition to the light background.

In a continuation of this series, the artist carries on with rivaling light and darkness, lightness and density. In Cloud Study IV, Guy creates another menacing sky but this time opposes light clouds against a dark and broody backdrop.
