Combustion typically engenders destruction and disappearance; in Oxidation/Immolation, it constructs new meanings and observations. Andrew envisioned to extenuate materiality in this work by torching and charring a homemade napalm. This artistic process creates new visual elements that are in tension with each other. Man-made and organic materials are fused, and new materiality is created.
