“Off_Site_Sightings” is a part of a series that investigates how painting can be used to explore ways in which landscapes and places can become trigger points for memory and associations. Creating this work from images of an outdoor installation piece he made in Spain, Benjamin Deakin intentionally uses heightened colours and fragmented structures to leave the viewer free to visually wander around the paintings and trigger associations of their own. In the virtual halls of AORA, the work engages with a new sense of navigating through space. Through its luminous painterly surface, the work invites the viewer to get close, move around, and explore in the digital dimension.
