For Gary-Ross Pastrana who predominantly works by combining concepts with objects, college has a sense of its own agency. Experimenting by setting different parameters in his making process, he realizes that simplicity allows us to experience meaning, and this experience attains a new sense of freedom. Parameter was also a factor in the materials that were used to create the colleges; the artist created them by utilizing materials that were immediately available to him during the pandemic. Dynamic movement, pause of time, and vacuumed space on the two dimensional surface, creating a moment of sudden encounter.
