The Collapse of History IV draws from the imagery of ancient Greek and Roman statues, delineating a figure transitioning from male to female. The work is a part of a four piece series that depicts a wide, heavy torso that elegantly narrows. Elements of female anatomy begin to emerge as masculine elements gently dissolve. The unification of masculine and feminine elements in a singular figure reflects Hussey’s interpretation of this dichotomy as instinctively rooted within us. Acting as a vessel of duality, the bodies represent perfect balance between men and women.
