Plaza Monkeys depicts a group of monkeys gathered around a pond to grasp the moon, persisting without reckoning the fact that they are aiming for a facade. Yifan is deeply interested in the multitude of knowledge systems that shape our perception of the world around us. Her attentiveness to this theme is evident in this painting, as elements of traditional tale and urban landscape coexist. Through merging these elements with a vivid use of colour, the artist portrays an in-between realm of multiple realities.
