Time and space are palpable elements that let us position ourselves relative to our physical surroundings. In the virtual world, they are abstracted and become illusionary; basic components that demarcate our presence and non-presence become warped and fragmented. Coded to calculate the exact position of the sun according to real time data, the imaginary desert created by Ellie embodies compulsive escapism and romanticism. The title of the work corresponds to the exact date, time, and time zone of when the photograph was taken. Expanded to a large scale, the print resembles a window to a new dimension, paralleling how our screens act as portals between our physical and virtual presence.
